Introduction

Over the years I have maintained a close and regular interaction with several dogs, which led me early on to choose the dog as the favourite pet.

Associated with this passion for dogs and largely because of it, I also developed, long ago, the passion for hunting, which led me to focus my attention on the hunting dogs.

What fascinates me in hunting dogs is that they can perfectly fulfill the role of pets, serving at the same time as partners in the practice of an activity in which both the hunter and the dog derive pleasure.

The hunter takes much more pleasure from the hunt if the dogs that join him show happiness and commitment in providing aid.

Nothing is more satisfying to a hunter than watching a good game move, played by his dog which in the end, with the game securely in the mouth directs to the hunter to deliver it, showing all his intelligence, character and loyalty.

That's how I get to the Portuguese Podengo, a sweet and affectionate dog that is an excellent companion for the whole family and that in the field behaves absolutely extraordinary, showing all their character and all its vitality and has the advantage of be a rough dog, little given to diseases and easy to maintain.

The Portuguese Podengo is an unsurpassed rabbit hunting dog, whose performance hardly leaves damaged by weather or terrain that you have.

The character and courage of podengo are such that the small podengo not hesitate to enter the den of a fox and then fight with it to drive the same way that the average podengo not hesitate to confront a wild boar, if such a meeting is provide, even then they sometimes result in injuries and even death.

A pack of podengos hunting is a unique show, and it´s one of the rare opportunities that we still have to appreciate and try to understand the genesis and functionality of this ancient portuguese breed.

The selection of my dogs is based on behavior, passion and skill as a hunting dog, combined with morphological conformation and free of hereditary diseases.
